 CHARACTERISTICS


 Middle Triassic‑Liassic aged Burdur
 Beige' marble is lithologically defined as
 fossiliferous, recrystallized limestone.
 These are yellowish‑beige, locally gray
 colored, medium‑thick layered, locally
 massive limestones that contain algae
 fossils and they are known as Durdere
 Limestone Unit. These limestones grade
 into reddish‑pink colored, cherry
 limestones which have been deposited
 in ammonitico‑rosso facies at the
 uppermost part. The lowermost
 boundary of this limestone sequence
 that has nearly 700 m thickness, is a
 tectonic contact whereas it is overlied
 disconformably by the Upper
 Cretaceous aged rocks, at the
 uppermost boundary.
